One of the closest and most visited areas in the Sandia Mountains is Tres Pistolas in Tijeras Canyon, which provides access to the south end of the Sandia Wilderness. However, overuse and lack of maintenance has created significant trail deterioration and erosion. 

 

The Tres Pistolas project is focused on protecting and improving the ecology, recreation, wildlife habitat, and aesthetics of the canyon.  

 

Join us at our monthly meeting at 11 AM on the first Monday of the month, unless that day falls on the first of the month. When that happens, we meet at 11 AM  on the 8th of the month instead.
