La Madera Project

SANDIA RANGER DISTRICT

West Side / Invasives

Down Canyon, West Side.jpeg

The proximity of Albuquerque to the Sandia Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest greatly benefits both.

But the extensive interface poses daunting challenges, not only by the wear and tear of visitation to the Forest but by the passage of wildlife into residential areas and the invasion of the Forest by nonnative species that threaten to negatively alter its ecology, biodiversity and other values.

Therefore, the Westside/Invasive Species Project team of the Sandia Collaborative endeavors to engage with the Forest Service and other stakeholders in the issues of education, documentation and management of these challenges.

The WISP team meets on the second Thursday of the month at 11:00 a.m. If you would like to join us in working with these issues, please use this link to contact us.
